International Lifeline d’Haiti
Graceland Ministries, an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, is a growing network of International ministries designed to reach beyond social, economic, and religious barriers to offer hope and new life to Haiti.
Through its all-volunteer Haitian foundation, known as l’Fondation International Lifeline d’Haiti (FILH), the organization demonstrates the eternal love and grace of Jesus Christ through its network of 46 churches.
It is our mission to "preach" by doing and showing, through actions that reach widely and dig deeply, that we work to win hearts and lives in Haiti.
When vetiver grass matures, its roots form a closely-knit mass that extends 9-12 feet deep underground. Vetiver is truly amazing and a simple solution that eliminates the expensive costs of retaining walls and intricate drainage systems. One other advantage is it allows groundwater to be restored and retained, and water aquifers to be re-charged.
The cost for materials to plant Vetiver Grass per hectare (2.46 acres) of mountainside is approximately $1,565.
Jesus' last words before he left this earth serve as a reminder of why He came, why He called us, and why He empowered us, as followers, with His Holy Spirit. His ministry on earth—His sinless life, His atoning sacrifice, and His victorious resurrection—wasn’t about anything other than building His Kingdom through us, His church on earth. This is the lifeblood of Graceland Ministries ... fulfilling the Great Commission.
As you can see, our goal is primarily evangelistic without neglecting opportunities presented us to extend God’s love and merciful benevolence to those who are in need.
When Jesus left this earth, He opened His heart and gave us a glimpse of what was most important to Him … it was, and still is, His will that none should perish but all come to the saving knowledge of our precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Our purpose in ministry is aligned with the Great Commission to “go into all the world and make disciples of all nations” using every opportunity and every means possible.
When you participate in a ministry effort such as this, you are touching the heart of the Lord. You are aligning yourself with His will. And in so doing, you join forces with men and women from all over the world who feel the same passion to fulfill the command to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength," and to "love your neighbor as yourself.”
Pray for us, get involved, let us know how we can utilize your gifts and talents … we’re praying for you to fulfill your purpose and destiny in the Kingdom of God as His ambassador to this world.
Current Ministry Programs:
Evangelism, Land Reclamation, Erosion Control, Flood Control
In addition to church support, which is our #1 task, we are working to correct one of Haiti’s biggest problems. Due to mountainside tree cutting and removal, erosion and desertification have rendered Haiti unable to grow enough food to sustain its people. Erosion has carried almost all topsoil into the sea. What’s left behind is rocky, hard-pack terrain which is nearly worthless for crop production.
L’Fondation International Lifeline d’Haiti (FILH) has joined an expanding movement to plant Vetiver Grass along contour lines of rural mountainsides. These rows of Vetiver Grass literally form a wall of roots and leaves that will halt water runoff and stop erosion. As the Vetiver leaves turn to compost, new soil is created and productive land is re-established. Vetiver Grass has been used for centuries in India and Asia for this very purpose. Vetiver does not spread or populate like most grasses, therefore it does not become a nuisance or a renegade plant.
The labor is free. Planters and workers are provided by l’Fondation International Lifeline d’Haiti (FILH)
Food for Workers is approximately $400.
Total cost per hectare (2.46 acres): Approximately $1,965. Or $196.50 per Plot (10 Plots per hectare)
Note: Vetiver roots can be selectively harvested to fund ongoing operations. Vetiver is a key element in the manufacture of soaps, perfumes, and deodorants.
The Vetiver project must be a year-round effort in order to meet planting schedules.
Your participation is vital to the ongoing success of this ministry of stewardship to the land and the people of Haiti. Thank you and God bless you as we labor together.
